Knowledge of primigravida mothers on the newborn screening test in selected barangays in the City of Dasmariñas, Cavite

The study used a descriptive non-experimental method. Respondents of the study were the primigravida residing at the City of Dasmarinas, Cavite and were chosen using purposive sampling method. The research instrument used was adapted and modified from the unpublished undergraduate study of Hernandez, Angelo M., et al, (2012) entitled “Perception of First Time Teenage Mothers Regarding Newborn Screening of Their Child in Selected Barangays in Imus, Cavite”. Data was analysed using frequency and percentage distribution, mean, t-test, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). More of the respondents were 21-30 years old, high school graduate with monthly income of less than 10,000.00 and barangay health center as their source of health care. The respondents had a very high level of knowledge on newborn screening test. There was no significant difference in the knowledge of primigravida mothers on the newborn screening test when they were grouped according to age, educational attainment, monthly family income, and source health care. Results revealed that primigravida mothers had very high knowledge on newborn screening test regardless of the sociodemographic variables
