The article presents an analysis of the importance of managerial competencies and management in empowerment; it analyses the domain and typology of the concept of a managerial competence – empowerment and includes a quantitative survey on the core managerial competence and management in empowerment in the organization. The research has shown that empowerment is one of the most recent managerial competencies, and the role of leaders in empowerment is obvious. The respondents emphasised the importance of the leader’s behaviour as well as of the prevailing management style in the organization.
