Problem of youth religiosity in Soviet atheistic times

Straipsnyje aptariamas jaunimo religingumas sovietmečiu, pateikiami to meto sociologinių tyrimų rezultatai, apibūdinantys jaunimo tikėjimą, aprašoma tikinčio jaunimo situacija. Autorius atskleidžia tarybinių funkcionierių požiūrį į religiją, to meto ateistinio auklėjimo tikslus ir metodus, ateistinės ir krikščioniškos pasaulėžiūros prieštaroje gyvavusias jaunuolių indiferentiškumo ir susidvejinimo problemas.In this article the problems of youth religiosity in soviet times are discussed. The soviet sociological surveys of youth religiosity are presented. The article presents purposes and methods of atheistic education of youth. Soviet school was the base of education of youth in the spirit of materialist ideology and atheism. The main purpose of atheism ideologists was to free young generation from religious influence and to build up atheists and materialists. Atheistic education was not successful, and atheistic point of view had not won. Soviet counters by themselves have counted only about 3% of "fighting atheists" among youth. An official statistics inclined to lower the figures that showed religiosity. Yet some sociological surveys showed that the real situation was different from the declared one.
