The article contains an analysis of actions undertaken by the Communist party and the government institutions of the Soviet Union to stir the population of the BSSR to greater activity in the 1937-1941 period by means of anti religious information and explanatory agitational propaganda explanatory work. The Union of Militant Atheists created in the mid-twenties was defined as the chief implementer of actions planned by the Central Committee of the KP(B)B. It has been established that during this period, among the top party leaders there was no uniform view as regards carrying out atheistic education among the population.
