Tevreden met pensioen:veranderende inkomens en behoeften bij ouderen

The Dutch pension system is going through tough times. The pension age will increase and ambition levels are adjusted. It is important that the pension system matches the changing needs of the older population as closely as possible. Does the Dutch pension system fulfill this requirement? This thesis goes into this subject. The current income position of the Dutch elderly is described in this thesis. How much decreases disposable income when someone retires? The study also describes what happens to income when someone looses his partner. It shows that elderly can make end meet more easily than the younger, despite the lower incomes of the elderly. The study explores the different expenditure patterns with respect to the younger. The used models include also various other explanatory factors that seek to explain differences in spending and the ability to make ends meet. The thesis ends with various recommendations for the pension system
