SiCf/SiCm self-healing ceramic matrix composites are materials of choice for aeronautical and space applications (high refractarity, low density). Borated compounds (B4C(s) and SiBC(s) have been incorporated into the SiCm matrix to increase the service life of these materials under complex environments (N2/O2/H2O) and thermomechanical stresses.
