The objective of this essay is to elucidate a conception of freedom in sociological terms, which can plausibly articulate the link between individual action and social structures. The concept of freedom is appropriate given its importance for modern societies, since it allows us to understand the principles that inform their social institutions, as well as the normative premises that characterize social conflicts.
