Economic interests have been of primary importance in US policy toward Latin America. However, lately, their relationships have become more complex and global considerations have begun to predominate, replacing the hemispheric ones. The "special relationship" has vanished. What is the new logic of US economic interests in Latin America? What changes have occurred? How do these influence the foreign and security policy of that country?
