The relation between non-athletes and athletes adolescent self-esteem and bullying

Research object – the athletes and non-athletes adolescent’s relation between self-esteem and bullying. Aim of the research – to disclose the relation between non-athletes and athletes adolescent self-esteem and bullying. Research tasks: 1. To identify the characteristics of bullying between athletes and non-athletes adolescents and gender. 2. To find the peculiarity of self-esteem between athletes and non-athletes adolescents. 3. To ascertain the relation of self-esteem and bullying 4. To identify the relation of self-esteem and bullying by the aspect of sports activities and gender. In the interview, which was carried out in the year 2009 participated 182 adolescent (athletes and non-athletes) from Kaunas and secondary and sport schools. Conclusions: It was found that athletes adolescents suffer less bullying than non-athletes their peers (p0,05). More often worse than any of the peers feel non-athletes adolescents (p0,05). When analyzing a person experienced bullying and his bullying from other peers relation with self-assesment it was found weak dependence of these effects on the pursuit of sports activities and gender
