Philip Ruehl Interview

Tape recorded interview conducted on September 19, 1982 by Jack Sampson with Philip Ruehl at his home in Menomonie, Wis. Dr. Ruehl received the following degrees in industrial education: B.S. from Stout in 1941, M.A. from Stout in 1948, and Ph.D. from University of Minnesota in 1961. Dr. Ruehl began his career at Stout in 1948 teaching electricity and electronics, later serving as Chair of the Electronics Department until 1967 when he was appointed Assistant Dean of the School of Applied Science and Technology in which capacity he served until his retirement in December 1981. The interview includes discussion of the early Mechanics and Electronics Department, Stout faculty member Harry Good, curriculum changes from electricity to electronics, the Amateur Radio Club, development of graduate program in Vocational and Technical Education, the School of Industry and Technology, the Alumni Association, and general observations of Stout
