This work deals with cultural meanings present in the popular literature written in Northeast Brazil. The popular cultural expressions represent much more than aesthetic or artistic events. They are the declaration of a cultural practice and a constant renewal of a collective memory, manifested in various literary genres, like the Cordel brochure. With Portuguese origin, the line of genre is the popular literature writing, constituting legitimate documents and extremely valuable in redemption and discovery on human and physical aspects of the northeast of the past.
