The second movement was not begun until 1827 or 1828 and remains unfinished. The movements are titled (1) Allegro moderato and (2) Larghetto ma non troppo (Andante) and are constructed in a freely extended sonata form. The edition used in this performance has been edited and in the case of the second movement, reconstructed by the famous Soviet violist, Vadim Borissovsky.
