Starting from the fact that the Ten Commandments are the foundation of Christian morality, the author of this article introduces each commandment briefly and individually. He uses religious teaching formula since he sees God’s commandments as a general principle that should be interpreted in the light of subsequent moral criteria. Since the Decalogue coincides with the natural moral law which is inscribed in the heart of every man, he notes that God’s commandments are universal and valid for all time. Consequently, in the final part of the article the author expresses the wish that the comandments would be adopted as the basis of a universal ethic.
