Specification for emulating x86 (SPEC) is a research that will act as a guide for emulating the 8086 microprocessor. This research will provide documentation on how to emulate the 8086 microprocessor in order to run the Microsoft Disk Operating System (MS-DOS) on top of a different operating system. This presents a proposed architecture of the emulator and provides discussion on each identified components to be emulated. It discusses how each component of the emulator interacts with one another, with the guest operating system as well as the host operating system. It also provides discussion on how to implement the hardware concepts and further develop the system. In addition, this research will provide details on the x86 processor architec...
