Since the inception of Western Education into Nigeria through the Missionaries in 1842, the advent of colonial masters in 1880 in the midst of the political journey to independence in 1960 and various educational reforms including that which advocated cultural relevance, how has music education fared? In what domain has it been globalized? And how does one reconcile the drive of nationalism in music and overwhelming drive of globalization? In fact, how does one configure and theorize these problems and issues facing music education in Nigeria against the background of the realities of globalization
