In non-shared memory, message passing parallel machines, communications are implemented on a point to point basis.Fixed connexion machines use permanent links organised in regular graphs of interconnexion such as grids ou hypercubes. Due to the lack of direct links, some messages must be routed form node to node until they reaches their destination. Matching between inter-tasks communications and the physical interconnexiongraph is a crucial point for machins performances.
