V globálním měřítku lidé stále více zaměřují pozornost na atraktivní a chutné pokrmy. Jak kvalita potravin, tak estetické aspekty přispívají ke vzniku konzumovaných pokrmů. Atraktivita a přitažlivost jednotlivých jídel by mohla být posílena těmito jedlými květy . Rovněž jsou důležité nové informace týkající se složení nutričních hodnot jedlých květů a představují dostatečný důvod pro jejich konzumaci. Cílem této studie je přispět k popularizaci vybraných jedlých květů okrasných rostlin týkajících se celkem 15 druhů. Květy byly použity k určení jejich antioxidační kapacity kolísající v rozsahu od 4,11 do 7,94 g ekvivalentu kyseliny askorbové (AAE) / kg čerstvé hmotnosti.
