Despite being etiologically classified in 5 groups, it´s in the PAH group that new data about de comprehension and treatment have been recently achieved. The involved pathobiologic mechanisms are vasoconstriction, remodeling of de vascular wall, inflammation and in situ thrombosis, which associated with an imbalance of vasoactive mediators, leads to a chronic rise of pulmonary vascular resistance, ultimately causing heart failure and death.
