MUSIK DI DUNIA ISLAM, Sebuah Penelusuran Historikal Musikologis

Abstract This study tries to uncover the history of Islamic music that could be traced back to the time before Arabian Islam. Some new musical form were in fact adopted from its corresponding old forms which then adjusted to Islamic content. This study found that music had been performed within the Arab societies during the beginning of Islam and had well developed during the Ummayad Caliphate times between the year 661 and 750. The peak development of Islamic music that was centered in Spain up to the end of the first part of the 15th century and that was then descending by the diminished of Islamic influence in Europe, finally terminated by Western colonialization which was followed by modernization. Keywords: Islamic music, music history, Spain. Abstrak Kajian ini berupaya mengungkap sejarah seni musik Islam yang akar keberadaannya dapat ditelusuri sejak masa sebelum Islam di Arab. Beberapa bentuk musikal baru dalam kenyataannya memiliki kaitan asal-muasal dengan bentuk-bentuk lama yang kemudian diselaraskan dengan muatan Islamis. Kajian ini menjumpai bahwa musik hidup dalam masyarakat Arab sejak masa permulaan Islam dan telah mengalami kemajuan pada masa Kalifah Ummayah di antara tahun 661 dan 750. Puncak pengembangan musik Islam yang terpusat di Spanyol hingga penghujung paruh pertama abad ke-15 dan kemudian menurun seiring dengan melemahnya pengaruh Islam di Eropa, akhirnya terputus oleh kolonisasi Barat yang diikuti oleh modernisasi.
