Uso de los recursos espacio-temporales por un ensamble de reptiles en un bosque nuboso de El Salvador

We quantified the diversity and estimated the overlap and amplitude of the spatial and temporal niche of the reptile assembly of the Cerro Verde Natural Park, located in department of Santa Ana. Three sampling zones were delimited within the cloud forest that surrounds the intensive use area of the Park: North, Southwest and East. From January to June 2016 three transects of 100 m length were sampled in each zone. The microhabitat was recorded and the time when each individual was observed for the first time, according to ten time zones of one hour each, between 07:00 h-12:00 and 13:00-18:00. The microhabitats were classified: leaf litter, standing trunk, fallen trunk, on leaf, between grasses, branch, rock and artificial structure. To estimate the diversity, the ecological indexes were used: Margalef, Shannon-Wiener, Simpson and Pielou. Pianka’s equation was used to estimate the overlap of the spatial and temporal niche, and Levins’ equation to estimate the amplitude of the niche. Four species of lizards and one of snakes were registered. The diversity for the park was low (Mg = 1.1, H ‘= 1.2, λ = 0.7, J = 0.3). The area with the best representation of species and individuals was the northern zone. The preferred microhabitats were leaf litter, between Herbs and trunk Standing, and midday the most used time zone. There was no complete overlap of the spatial and temporal niche. Most species showed a tendency to be specialists in both dimensions of the niche, this suggests that those are species with low competition and tend to be specialists in the use of spatial and temporal resources.Se cuantificó la diversidad y se estimó el solapamiento y amplitud del nicho espacial y temporal del ensamble de reptiles del Parque Natural Cerro Verde, localizado en el departamento de Santa Ana. Se delimitaron tres zonas de muestreo dentro del bosque nuboso que rodea la zona de uso intensivo del Parque: Norte, Suroeste y Este. De enero a junio de 2016 se muestrearon tres transectos de 100 m longitud en cada zona. Se registró el microhábitat y hora en que fue observado por primera vez cada individuo de acuerdo a diez franjas horarias de una hora cada una, entre las 07:00 h-12:00 y 13:00-18:00. Los microhábitats se clasificaron en: hojarasca, tronco en pie, tronco caído, sobre hoja, entre hierbas, rama, roca y estructura artificial. Para estimar la diversidad se usaron los índices ecológicos: Margalef, Shannon-Wiener, Simpson y Pielou. Se empleó la ecuación de Pianka para estimar el solapamiento del nicho espacial y temporal, y la ecuación de Levins para estimar la amplitud del nicho. Se registraron cuatro especies de lacertilios y una de serpiente. La diversidad para el parque fue baja (Mg=1.1, H´=1.2, λ =0.7, J=0.3). La zona con mejor representación de especies e individuos fue la zona norte. Los microhábitats preferidos fueron hojarasca, entre hierbas y tronco en pie, y las franjas horarias cercanas al medio día las más usadas. No hubo sobreposición completa del nicho espacial y temporal. La mayoría de especies presentaron tendencia a ser especialistas en ambas dimensiones del nicho.
