Neue Techniken der Kompostierung. Teilvorhaben 16: Durchfuehrbarkeitsstudie zur Errichtung einer Logistik-Zentrale fuer Wertstoffe am Beispiel Kompost Abschlussbericht

The objective of the project was to examine the feasibility of a concept to implement a 'Logistic Centre for valuable wastes, i.e. compost'. The total application of the Kreislaufwirtschaftsgesetz and other regulations will cause large amounts of compost. Therefore a 'market regulation body' will be necessary, which consists of logistic centres in the Bundeslaender, coordinated centrally. These centres should build sub-networks for the distribution of the compost and offer additional services to the public authorities responsible for waste disposal, and to producers and users of compost. The feasibility study was made from 1st of March to 30st of November 1995. It essentially consisted of the questioning of 171 persons and institutions dealing with compost matters who can be considered as experts in this field. The results of the study clearly underlined the necessity of the 'market regulation body', provided that politicians demand the utilization of the material by composting; most of the ministries involved already asked explicitly for a body like this. To use the results of the project, it is suggested to realise the concept in steps involving existing structures.
