Introduction Guidelines of hypernatremia management have been plublished. However, this review has been made with the aim of summarize the hypernatremia pathophysiology in children, focused on its anesthetic implications. Methods: The review is composed by information extracted from 1 clinical guideline and 12 papers. Description: Mathematical formulas are widely used in hypernatremia management. Algorithms help us to achieve a correct diagnosis. Hypernatremia may be common in the cranial surgery postoperative period. The sodium correction should not be done aggressively in order to avoid complications.
