This paper is a review of the theories and ideas of Education Development in developing countries. The theories can be classified into three categories. The first category is \u22ideas of Education Development combined with Economic Development\u22. It includes Human Capital theory, the Endogenous Growth Model and Structural Adjustment Loan policies. The second category comprises \u22ideas of Education Development combined with Social Development\u22. It includes a point of view that considers Education Development as a sector of social development; while it also affects other sectors such as sanitation, nutrition, population and environment etc. This is particularly true of the education of girls.
