-7- The Undergraduate Committee (B-l) Functions: a* To formulate all policies that concern the more formal (curricular) undergraduate program of the University, such as: 1. degree requirements Z\ development of new areas of study 3. acadonic regulations and Procedures b. To act upon the requests of the academic divisions for course changes (additions and deletions). c. To initiate studies designed to evaluate the undergraduate’program and to plan programs for inservice growth of the staff members. d. To establish standing or ad hoc sub-committees to act administratively on presecribed matters to formulate specific policies, or to make specific studiesc (Note: The committee may wish to consider establishment of the following sub-committees: Committee on Student Standing Committee on Senior Projects e* To grant waivers of academic regulations in exceptional cases when in their judgment exception is merited. Membership: Undergraduate dean, chairman; dean of students, director of the English Language Institute,‘representative Faculty of Education, chairmen of department committees. JThe English Language Institute Committee (B-la) Functions: a. To formulate the basic policies of the Institute, especially as they modify or supplement the policies of the other instructional programs. b. Tosdvise the Director on matters Trhich he brings to the committee. c. To institute studies leading to the evaluation and modification of the program of the Institute. Mqmb ership: Director of the Institute, chairman; chairman of the English department, undergraduate dean or assistant, representative graduate faculty and two other teachers, preferably those teaching freshman subjects
