• • • page 3 Campus Planning Committee Dormitory changes: The plan for next fall is to move the women to the Falaki Building and move the men to the Zamalek Building. There is a possibility of g~v~ng up one floor of faculty housing for student housing. This will depend on the total number of faculty apartments secured by the fall. Mr. Snaith pointed out that there is a sizeable balance in the plant fund; $5 million and 2 million L.E. The Zamalek 2 property and the Maadi property are possible sites for use of the money, and the administration should look into building at Maadi on an early basis. REVIEW OF AID REQUESTS The FY85 request from ASHA is 2.9 million for building the dormitory on Z-2. The dormitory proposmhad been split into two stages, as a very large request to cover the cost of building the dorm was not advised. The FY86 request could be phase 2 of the dormitory. SWIMMING POOL The pros and cons of building a swimming pool were discussed. There was a general feeling that a swimming pool would add a negative "country club" image to the university. Mrs. Montassir raised the point that a large expenditure on a luxury item might not be well received by either students or faculty. Also the issue of having men and women mixing around a pool was discussed. In general the committee thought the pool might cause more problems than it was worth
