Report of the Development Committee: (Mr. Bliss) The status of this year's fundraising effort was summarized by the Director of Development, Miss Morse. We are currently $150,000 short of this year's goal with four months remaining in the fiscal year. It should be possible to reach the goal in the time remaining, and the efforts underway in this regard were summarized. This year's goal is 30% larger than last year's. Next year's goal of $825,000 represents a further increase of 12%. Of the $825,000, $723,000 are to be raised in the U.S. Mr. Bliss said he believes the a~itious goals of the campaign can and will be met, but stressed the importance of br~dening the base of supporters. Mr. Hedlund urged each Trustee to call Miss Morse and suggest persons to be contacted. It was noted that five Trustees have not yet made a contribution this fiscal year. Mr. George Brakeley of Brakeley, John, Price, Inc. addressed the Trustees and stressed the importance of Trustee efforts and participation in the major campaign. He termed their participation a "sine qua non". The plans for various regional co-chairmen were discussed. The Honorary Co-Chairman of the campaign will be Howard Clark, ex-Chairman of American Express. There are plans to have an Egyptian co-chairman, which Dr. Pedersen is working on; and it would be desirable to have a co-chairman from the Arabian Gulf area. It is also planned to have six or seven national co-chairmen with adequate geographic spread, and to then appoint a number of vice chairmen. A number of possible candidates were mentioned. 8. Report of the Campus Planning and Housing Committee: (Mr. Bacon) The new Library is further delayed. The structure is almost finished, but there are problems in finishing the interior, including difficulties with the airconditioning and furniture.
