In connection with this Amendment the Board passed the following Resolution, to wit: RESOLVED that the powers of the President of The American University in Cairo to dispose of University property under Arti­cle IV of the By-Laws shall be limited to a value of LE 5,000 per transaction. 8. President's Report - President Byrd reported to the Trustees that the Minister of Higher Education has been pressing for implementation of the Protocol negotiated by President Thoron with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, the Minister of Higher Education is insisting on a number of amendments that seem to give the Egyptian government more control over the University than it would have gained under the ?riginally adopted Protocol. President Byrd regards the matter as serious and requested that a committee of the Trustees be established to study the question. Mr. Thorne named Mrs. Lord and Messrs. Battle, Black, Crary, Hedlund, O'Connor, Wells and Yost to the Committee and indicated that he would be in-volved also. President Byrd reported that he is under pressure from a number of sources to appoint another Egyptian Vice President. He said that such additional position is unnecessary in his view and should be resisted. President Byrd gave the Trustees a report on the Manage­ment Extension program and said that he is very encouraged by its activities and progress, giving as an example a recently conclude
