McCloy noted that the University is very fortunate in that Dr . Simpson will playa major role in selecting the objects and working with the Egyptian government . 9. Acting President is Report - Dr . Byrd re-emphasized ~~r . Tamraz l earlier point that the Univer­sity should first attempt to offer services to oil producinq states, oil companies and other interests in the area and that through such services t he way might be opened for seeking broader supporto Oro Byrd commented on the recent recognition of the University degrees by the Egyptian government and said that this will mean that AtJC graduates can' now pursue advanced degrees in the Egyptian univ~rsities and that our graduates will be able to sec!: c!'l p 'loymen~ "ill -the Egyptian government on the same basis as graduates from Egyptian universities . Dr . Byrd also believes t hat recognition of AUC's degrees will result in an increase in applications for adm i ssion and a reduction in the number of AUC graduates who go abroad for graduate work . Dr. Byrd noted that there are rumors that sequestration may be lifted in the near future . He recommended that when ";his occurs the Trustees recommend the appointment of the present sequestrator, Dr . Hussein Fawzi, as counselor under the terms of the Protocol . The Trustees noted this recommendation and agreed to review the matter of the counselor at such time as sequestration is lifted
