Dr. Harbison stressed the importance of the work of the department since this is a field not included in the curriculum of the Egyptian universities. Bids have been received but all are above the csSlavailable from the U.S. Govermnent; it is hoped that the bids can be reduced. b) Library contracts hav~ let and work should be completed by the end of the summer (fourth floor being added, and elevator being installed). c) Installation of elevator to the President's office is being investigated. d) Future Construction - The only construction in the I immediate future now being considered is the possible addition of a fourth floor to the School of Oriental studies building with $100,000 from PL 480 f'unds in Cairo. After thorough discussion, it was the sense of the meeting that ettort should be made to develop sources of large support on a permanent basis. The U.S. Govermnent is the first and largest source, then two or three foundations (mainly, Ford and Rockefeller), perhaps five to ten corporations with interests in the MiddJ.e East, and then ten to twenty individuals who could give large annual support
