Publication of the results of research is only a portion of the contribution of these presses to scholarship, By providing an agency near at hand through which publication can be assured, they have stimulated scholars to undertake investigations.. They have likewise been notably successful in effecting an extensive documentation of special subject fields or regions and in round-ing out and giving a cumulative effect to the university's entire educational program.
