Mr. President, T7 opened the 1939-40 academic year under the flag of war. Obviously we were haunted by the idea that our work was going to be badly inter-fered with, that our enrolment was going to fall down, and that our subscriptions for the Journal of Modern Education were going to drop to a miserable figure. Contrary to these pessimistic expectations, the horizon proved to be much clearer, as far as our University is concerned. We most sincerely hope that our local atmosphere, as well as the general wide world horizon, will, during the coming year, keep us in the peace of mind we desire...
