The airs is to First buy all the land that the University is likely to need in its future development; not to do this in a land like Egypt then, would make us liable to extortionate demands when more land was sought for; secondly, to get the Collegiate School of the University started. (1) Land: From 100 to 150 acres of land is deemed necessary if the institution is to have such professional courses as are contemplated in an Agricultural School. Ordinary Agricultural land in Lower Egypt costs normally from $1,000 an acre upward. With the present real estate conditions, the price will vary from $500 to $750 an acre. (2) The Collegiate School: This Department of the University is to be launched first. There is every reason for planning for a Collegiate Department for at least 1000 students, but at the very start, it is deemed best to limit the number to 200 and further to limit these to the first two years of the four of a college course. In this way, the life and character of the institution may be more surely controlled.
