Nowadays, soil erosion has caused a reduction in pasture production, which has led to inefficiency in milk production in the majority of small and medium producers in the Ecuadorian highlands. Commonly chemical fertilizers have been applied to compensate for soil deficiencies. However, the chemical elements are assimilated by the plants roots in low proportion, since they diffuse in a small diameter around them. On the contrary, organic fertilizers provide both chemical elements and promote the root development of plants as well.
