Document: Statement of the Stockton and East San Joaquin Water Conservation District relative to the Proposed Pacific Southwest Water Plan, November 1, 1963, page 2The area of the District is largely devoted to agricultural uses, including approximately 48,000 acres of irrigated farmland, but it also includes most of the City of Stockton and the urbanized area surrounding the City. In the past the District has utilized the Old Hogan Dam to conserve as much of the Calaveras River runoff as possible consistent with the use of Old Hogan Dam for maximum flood protection.
