4. Groundwater Developments: Groundwater developments on public lands are categorized under extraction developments and conservation developments. Water extraction developments are largely required by livestock and wildlife. These developments include stockponds, pipelines, and spring and well developments. The developments are constructed by BIM range users under permit or cooperatively with the Bureau. Conservation developments are designed to improve watershed conditions and promote groundwater storage capacities. The developments consist of reseeding, brush control, check dams, diversions, spreading works, and proper range adjudication and use. 5. Present Water Uses: Presently, in most areas of the subject basin, all waters have been appropriated and are being utilized. The principal allocations of water on the public lands are for grazing and wildlife use. Future and additional requirements for water cannot be met without improved water-use practices such as adjustments in present water uses or development of new sources outside the basin. 6. Research Programs: The Bureau cooperates with State universities in research projects such as brush eradication in California and Arizona, and ecological and range-use studies in Nevada. Cooperation with State Fish and Game Departments in various wildlife projects involving introduction of new species and propagation of species, such as 24Epson Perfection 4870 Photo, 400 dpi, 8 bit, 16,023,552 byte
