The present paper try to analyze the treaty De Musica, written by Saint Augustine and published in the year of 389. The treaty was written in a dialogue form between the pupil and the master and it was composed of six books. Augustine elaborated the music concepts based on a seemingly technique form in the first five Books, transmitting technical knowledge on the rhythm, the meter and the verse, that culminated in the Sixth Book, with the conception of God. The way adopted for the understanding of the dialogue De Musica was delineated step-by-step due to the complexity offered by the treaty and due to subjects raised by it, of obscure understanding to the first view.
