During the nineteenth century the importation of African slaves increased drastically in Cuba. The fear of uprisings and the conquest of new spaces by the afro-descendant population led the intellectuals to deal with the question of the Negro in their novels. In Cecilia Valdes, Cirillo Villaverde portrays those complex interethnic relationships and questions the current model of society. In this article, we will analyse three examples of black resistance and seek to expose the author's objective by presenting black as a threat to the white domain
