Williams Survey Party in the Northern Territory.Williams previously served 14 months in the Boer War with the NSW Light Horse, A Battery. He enlisted in 52nd Battalion, 7th Reinforcement along with four other Darwin men: Alfred Clarence Ahern; George Ogilvy Cousins; Patrick Cross; James William Holmes. He embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT A74 'Marathon' on 27 October 1916. On 21 April 1917, he proceeded to Estaples to join his unit and was killed on 7 June 1917 at the Battle of Messines, France.
