That was the question local, state and federal investigators were wrestling with Sunday on the heels of a mystery explosion which tore through the roof of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Club on the outskirtts of this Creek County city last Saturday night. Jack McKenzie, a pecial investigator for the district attorney's office, said the latest explosion closely parallels last Tuesday's blast which ripped the roof of the American National Bank at Bristow...There were no deaths or injuries in the earlier explosions, but in Saturday night's blast at the Sapulpa VFW club, one person was killed and 15 others were injured seriously enough to require hospital treatment. They were taken to Sapulpa, Tulsa and Claremore hospitals......In a bombing incident which claimed the life of a Bristow schoolteacher Mrs. Fern Bolding early last year, Rex Brinice is serving a life sentence in the state penitentiary at McAlester. Brinlee, a Tahlequah private club operator, was convicted of planting a bomb which took Mrs. Bolding's life as she started the family pickup to drive to work.
