Letter from John Muir to Louie [Strentzel Muir], 1903 May 29.

[2]me to Century Office saw lots of people there, Then to the Netherlands Hotel to see Harriman He was glad to see me. Was propped up in bed,- is getting well fast. The children con[illegible]ing from scarlet fever. They are going to sail June 5th all well & [illegible]sted after their terrible[1][letterhead]New York May 29th1903.6 A.M.Dear Louie, We have just come aboard & found our rooms. We sail in an hour & a half - a fine ship.Yesterday morning we left Boston around 4 P M-Johnson met me at station, Took03257 [4]family. But I had agreed to dine with the Gilders There I had good time Everybody kind & flattering Johnson brought me to hotel at 11 o\u27clock. The Sargents & I went to bed at 12-30!. Got up at 4.45. Think of it! Yet feel well. Had fine rest at Sargents [3]trials- Appendicitis, fever strikes etc. He is one of the bravest & most hopeful of men.After chatting half an hour he told me to cable anything we wanted on the China steamship. invited me to dinner saying I would see the whole 03257 [5][letterhead]Gilder wants me to go to Carnegies [illegible] Kibo. - says invitation will be waiting me at Edinburgh & London.
