Durabilitat de les fibres vegetals en matrius de ciment d'aluminat de calç

The use of cementitious composites as a building material is one of the most used resources since ancient times thanks to the physical, mechanical and chemical properties that it offers. In contrast, cementitious composites reinforced with cellulosic fibers also possess good properties and its production system is more sustainable. The most important problem that arises from the union of Portland cement with vegetable fibers is the degradation of these produced by the calcium hydroxide released during the hydration reaction of the cement. This fact, added to the loss of fiber adhesion to the matrix, due to changes of humidity in the environment, limits the uses of the fiber cement of plant origin exclusively to interior spaces. The aim of this study is to test the durability of vegetable fibers in calcium aluminate cement matrix. In this study, flax fibers have been used. In order to reach the objective, we have analyzed the mechanical properties, in flexion and compression, of various dosages of matrices formed by aluminous cement (CAC) and metakaolin (MK). On the other hand, we have observed the state of the flax fibers after having been immersed in the different dosages of the matrix, in this case liquid, and subjected to several dry-wet cycles. To check the durability of these fibers, tensile tests have been carried out to see if the mechanical properties have changed during the course of the treatment. It has been concluded that flax fibers are affected by the presence of calcium aluminate and MK matrices. However, if we compare this effect with that produced by the Portland we see that it is smaller and therefore opens a window to the study of the viability of this material and its uses in the exterior. During our tests, the linen fibers have undergone 10 dry-wet cycles being in continuous contact with the matrix. Therefore, we can say that this fiber cement can have a future as new construction material more respectful of the environment.L'ús de fibrociment com a material de construcció és un dels recursos més emprats des de l'antiguitat gràcies a les propietats físiques, mecàniques i químiques que ens ofereix. Actualment l'origen de la majoria de fibres que el formen són d'origen sintètic i el seu sistema de producció genera una elevada petjada de carboni. En canvi, el fibrociment compost per fibres cel·lulòsiques també ens pot aportar unes bones propietats i la seva producció és molt més sostenible. La problemàtica més important que sorgeix de la unió d'un ciment de tipus Portland amb fibres vegetals consisteix en la degradació d'aquestes produïda per l'hidròxid de calci alliberat durant la reacció d'hidratació del ciment. Aquest fet sumat a la pèrdua d'adherència de les fibres amb la matriu, degut als canvis d'humitat que es produeixen en l'ambient, provoca que els usos del fibrociment d'origen vegetal siguin limitats a exclusivament espais interiors. L'objectiu d'aquest estudi es comprovar la durabilitat de les fibres vegetals en matrius de ciment d'aluminat de calç. En el nostre cas hem utilitzat fibres de lli. Per arribar a l'objectiu hem analitzat les propietats mecàniques, a flexió i compressió, de diverses dosificacions de matrius formades per ciment aluminós (CAC) i metacaolín (MK). D'altre banda hem observat l'estat de les fibres de lli després d'haver estat submergides en les diferents dosificacions de matrius, en aquest cas en estat líquid, i sotmeses a varis cicles de sec-humit. Per acabar de comprovar la durabilitat d'aquestes fibres s'han assajat a tracció per esbrinar si les propietats mecàniques havien canviat durant el transcurs del tractament. S'ha conclòs que les fibres de lli es veuen afectades per la presència de matrius d'aluminat de calç i MK. De totes maneres, si comparem aquesta afectació amb la produïda per el Portland veiem que aquesta és més reduïda i per tant s'obre una finestra a l'estudi de la viabilitat d'aquest material i els seus usos en exteriors. Durant els nostres assajos les fibres de lli han suportat 10 cicles intensius de sec-humit estant en contacte, de forma continua, amb les matrius. Per tant, tot i produir-se afectacions, podem dir que aquest fibrociment pot tenir un futur com a un nou material de construcció més respectuós amb el medi ambient.El uso de fibrocemento como material de construcción es uno de los recursos más utilizados desde la antigüedad gracias a las propiedades físicas, mecánicas y químicas que nos ofrece. En cambio, el fibrocemento compuesto por fibras celulósicas también nos puede aportar unas buenas propiedades y su sistema de producción es más sostenible. La problemática más importante que surge de la unión de un cemento de tipo Portland con fibras vegetales consiste en la degradación de estas producida por el hidróxido de calcio liberado durante la reacción de hidratación del cemento. Este hecho sumado a la pérdida de adherencia de las fibras con la matriz, debido a los cambios de humedad que se producen en el ambiente, provoca que los usos del fibrocemento de origen vegetal sean limitados exclusivamente a espacios interiores. El objetivo de este estudio es comprobar la durabilidad de las fibras vegetales en matrices de cemento de aluminato de calcio. En nuestro caso hemos utilizado fibras de lino. Para llegar al objetivo hemos analizado las propiedades mecánicas, a flexión y compresión, de diversas dosificaciones de matrices formadas por cemento aluminoso (CAC) y metacaolín (MK). Por otra parte, hemos observado el estado de las fibras de lino después de haber estado sumergidas en las diferentes dosificaciones de matrices, en este caso en estado líquido, y sometidas a varios ciclos seco-húmedo. Para terminar de comprobar la durabilidad de estas fibras se han ensayado a tracción para ver si las propiedades mecánicas habían cambiado durante el transcurso del tratamiento. Se ha concluido que las fibras de lino se ven afectadas por la presencia de matrices de aluminato de calcio i MK. De todas formas, si comparamos esta afectación con la producida por el Portland vemos que esta es más reducida y por lo tanto se abre una ventana al estudio de la viabilidad de este material y sus usos en exteriores. Durante nuestros ensayos las fibras de lino han soportado 10 ciclos de seco-húmedo estando en contacto, de forma continua, con las matrices. Por tanto, todo y producirse afectaciones, podemos decir que este fibrocemento puede tener un futuro como nuevo material de construcción más respetuoso con el medio ambiente
