Memories resistent in quilombolas’ homegardens of Pilar do Sul (SP)

Quilombola communities have a long history of sustained resistance since slavery. Their traditions were oppressed and adapted to the reality they were forced to adopt, learning to relate to nature to survive, linking the memories of the representations of their identity to the new territory. In Pilar do Sul (SP), the quilombola community Fazenda Pilar claims the titling of their lands for the resumption of traditional subsistence practices. Approximately 70% of this territory has been urbanized, remaining only to the homegardens of their houses, reminiscences of relationship with nature. The participant research described here, sought to verify and describe if the traditional knowledge of quilombolas from Pilar do Sul are present in their homegardens. To this end, thematic interviews were conducted with quilombolas to record oral history. The results show that backyards preserve knowledge passed down through the generations, even if they are redefined, tainted or hidden.Não recebi financiamentoAs comunidades quilombolas têm uma longa história de resistências sustentadas desde a escravidão. Suas tradições foram oprimidas e adaptadas à realidade a qual foram obrigados a adotar, aprendendo a se relacionar com a natureza para dela sobreviver, vinculando as memórias das representações de sua identidade ao novo território. Em Pilar do Sul (SP), a comunidade quilombola Fazenda Pilar reivindica a titulação de suas terras para a retomada de práticas tradicionais de subsistência. Aproximadamente 70% desse território foi urbanizado, restando apenas aos quintais de suas casas, reminiscências de relacionamento com a natureza. A pesquisa participante aqui descrita, buscou verificar e descrever se os conhecimentos tradicionais de quilombolas de Pilar do Sul estão presentes em seus quintais. Para tal, foram feitas entrevistas temáticas com quilombolas para registro da história oral. Os resultados demonstram que os quintais preservam conhecimentos passados entre as gerações, mesmo que ressignificados, maculados ou ocultos
