The present work will concentrate on the description of deaf literature, based on a bibliographic review of children’s literature in general, and of specific work concerning visual pedagogy, in the specific field of deafness. We will, in addition, reflect on the translation work of a literary piece for elementary education deaf students, by the author Ziraldo Alves Pinto, in a school in the municipal system of Campinas (in the State of São Paulo), which is engaged in a project of bilingual education for the deaf.
