PENERAPAN STRATEGI KNOW WANT LEARNED SEBAGAI UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN

This research purposes to improve reading comprehension skills by using Know Want Learned strategy. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Every cycle consists of four stages, there are: Action planning; Implementation of the action; Observation, and Reflection. Data is collected by using: Observation; Interviews; Document, and Test. To test the validity of data used triangulation of data sources and triangulation methods. The data is analyzed by using an interactive analysis model, it consists of three component, that are: Data reduction; Display data, and Taking the conclucion. Based on the results, this can be proofed by the increased percentage of student listening skills in the first cycle and second cycle. Increased reading comprehension skills of studentis proofed by the average values obtained before action (precycle) is 61,61; with 25,7% percentage completeness. In the first cycle, the average value increased to 70,76 with 60% percentage completeness. In the second cycle, the average value increased to 76,7 with 85,71% percentage completeness. It can be concluded that the use of Know Want Learned strategy can improve reading comprehension of fourth grade students of SDN Mangkuyudan No. 02 Surakarta
