This paper will provide an overview of animation techniques and methods which are or in the future will be used in advanced geometric modeling. There are three main applications for animation in this area: modeling, presentation and user interfaces. In each of these application fields motion and the changing of the shape of an object are very important means for yielding a more realistic model of an object or a material. In addition, the prospects for a modeler of the future will be considered.(AGD
