International audienceThe paper examines several Homeric and Hesiodic passages (Odyssey I, 188-193; VII, 122-128; X, 234-236; XXIII, 359-372: XXIV, 221 and context; Iliad XI, 624 and 638-643; Shield 288-292) where the notion of ἀλωή seems to hesitate between cereal crops (or vegetable) and viticulture, between Demeter and Dionysos. The same ambivalence appears in the Athenian feast of Halôa.
