Ferry Hall 1914

A photograph of Ferry Hall looking southwest. The hall is partially hindered from view by a wall of foliage that runs along a dirt road (13th east). A telegraph pole stands in front of the hall at the right side. The dirt road is in the foreground with foliage running along both sides.The photograph is in good condition with some signs of aging. Written along the bottom, in black ink, is: "Ferry Hall (Westminster College) from 13 E. St. looking S.W." On the back, written along top, in black ink, is: "Westminster." Ferry Hall began construction in October 10, 1907 and was finished two years later due to lack of funds. The hall bore the name of Colonel William and Jeanette Ferry, Park City residents who contributed $15,000 of the $25,000 needed to erect the hall. The Ferry's were also a crucial factor in securing the land (around 1903) that Westminster College calls home today. Ferry Hall was original built to be a women's dormitory; however, it served many functions throughout the years such as the cafeteria, classrooms, administration offices, and terminal room for the computer center. Ferry Hall would suffer a sad fate in 1982 when the public building inspector condemned and ordered the hall unfit for use. After the verdict the hall was used for storage
