Add to ORKGGlade Sowards is pictured his seventh grade at Uintah High School. He was born to Harmon S. and Ida Rebecca Sowards on September 9, 1929. He married Rachel Elizabeth Farley in 1952. He owned and operated Utah Oil and Gas. He also was involved in other family business, H. S. Sowards and Sons, He-Way Husky, Dutch John Enterprises, Olympus Oil and Top Stop convenience stores. He was a civic leader of the community with involvement in the Lions Club, Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, along with many other organizations. He served on the Vernal City Council for eight years, ten years in the Utah House of Representatives and eight in the Utah Senate along with other government positions. He died November 10. 2001
