Presenting Symptom: Pain associated with loss of vision OS. Pathology: Choroidal scars. Clinical: The patient was a 30-year old female from Guatemala who developed pain and blindness of the left eye 3-1/2 months after visiting a coffee plantation where onchocerciasis was known to be prevalent. Examination at the time showed extensive inflammation about the nerve head and an eosinophilia of 7%. The present photograph was made 10 years later and shows extensive loss of the pigment epithelium, scarring of the choroid and clumping of pigment within the retina but surprisingly normal disc and retinal vessels.
