The post-embryonic development of the component glands of the salivary system of Camponotus rufipes (Formicinae) is studied. This system, is composed of four pairs of glands: the salivary gland of thorax, the post-pharyngeal gland, the hypo-pharyngeal gland and the mandibular gland. The first develops from the duct remainder of the salivary gland of the larva, which degenerates after the last larval instar; the second protrudes from the posterior pharyngeal region; the third protrudes from the region which will form the hypopharyngeal plate; and the last protrudes from the mandibular wall.
